Village Padhiana District Jalandhar. A village of Sikh Rajputs.

Born in October 1943 and a soldier of the 4th Sikh Battalion, Kewal Singh Minhas did a great sacrifice which only a Great Warrior can do.

 During the Sino-Indian War, 4 Sikh Regiment was stationed at Walong.  On the night of October 26, 1962, the unit was surrounded by Chinese forces.  However, the unit did not stop moving forward.

 At Mithun Ridge, the both armies clashed.  In hand to hand battle sepoy Kewal Singh killed 7 Chinese soldiers with the beynot of his rifle.  He was seriously injured in close fight and his intestines came out.  Eye witnesses narrated that despite his serious injuries, he pushed his intestines back into his stomach and attacked again, killing another Chinese soldier.  He succumbed to his injuries on October 26, 1962.

This great warrior didn't crossed 20 years of his life. Kewal Singh was married and had a small child.

 Kewal Singh's bravery and swift action encouraged other soldiers to face the enemy's attack. He was honored with the country's second highest gallantry awar(Posthumously), Maha Vir Chakra, for his unparalleled fighting spirit and supreme sacrifice.  His widow and one-year-old child were awarded the Maha Vir Chakra.

 Brigadier Manjit Singh Minhas, popularly known as "Jafna Hero" is also from same village, has the same honour. This is the only village in Punjab whose 2 soldier's soldiers got Mahavir Chakras. There are so many examples in the past also from Minhas clan. Sangt Singh Minhas, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur are main among this clan.
